2022 – a fresh bag of challenges and opportunities
Finally, life returned back to some kind of normal in 2022. The Clear Vision Financial Management team were all finally back in the office. Thankfully, due to our systems all being easily accessible from home the team were all able to continue with business as usual throughout the pandemic.
2022 was not without a fresh bag of challenges though. The cost-of-living crisis really began to hit everyone as inflation hit a record high of 11.1% in October 2022. UK food prices rose at their highest level in 42 years, energy prices increased and Russia invaded Ukraine.
Businesses started to face a real skills crisis as many people reviewed their work life balance. A House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee report found a combination of workers’ early retirement, increasing long-term sickness, changes in the structure of migration and the ageing of Britain’s population had reduced the UK’s working population and made it harder to fill jobs.
We saw three Prime Ministers in 2022 and a mini budget which sparked a financial crisis in October 2022 resulting in Liz Truss resigning and Rishi Sunak was announced as the UK’s 57th Prime Minister in the same month.
The year ended with the worst month of strikes in 11 years, with workers demanding pay increases due to rising inflation. Royal Mail, NHS, railway workers all walking out causing disruption. The Government are refusing to move and currently introducing new laws to restrict the ability to strike.
We have continued with a busy year at Clear Vision Financial Management, Dean Gates joined the team as Bookkeeper our second Apprentice joined the team and we also welcomed Karen Holmes to the team as Client Account Manager. We continued our support of Honeypot our charity of the year with various activities throughout 2022.
The year ended with a big announcement for the Clear Vision Financial Management team as we became a part of the Xeinadin Group. Being a part of the Xeinadin Group will allow us to access extra resources, training and services. On a day-to -day basis nothing will change for our team or clients, and we are excited about being a part of a group of over 100 business advisory and accountancy practices across the UK and Ireland.
Sean Daniel, Managing Director said “There were plenty of challenges throughout 2022 but we have continued to grow the team and work closely with our clients. We were pleased to end the year joining the Xeinadin Group and we look forward the further opportunities throughout 2023.”
