An Accounting Apprentice’s Journey
In September 2021, Clear Vision Financial Management (CVFM) recruited their first apprentice. Fresh out of leaving the Romsey School, Ashleigh Earle began her accountancy career after achieving nine GCSE’s. In this article we take a look at an Accounting Apprentice’s journey working with us.
Ashleigh applied to Eastleigh College through their apprenticeship scheme whereby she attended Eastleigh college for one day per week studying AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting – Level 2. For the rest of the week, Ashleigh gained on the job experience at Clear Vision Financial Management.
Leading up to December 2021, Ashleigh studied double entry bookkeeping which included sales ledger and purchase ledger as part of her AAT course at Eastleigh College which she attended on a Monday. During the rest of the week, Ashleigh worked at the Romsey office of CVFM and she was introduced to some clients and began processing data entry and administrative tasks whilst being trained on Xero.
From January 2022 through to June 2022, Ashleigh completed the rest of her AAT Level 2 qualification at Eastleigh College, studying further topics such as bookkeeping transactions, bookkeeping controls, elements of costing, using accounting software and working effectively in finance. Throughout this time, she continued to gain more experience at CVFM by completing bookkeeping tasks, bank reconciliations, preparing VAT returns, processing monthly payrolls and communicating with a portfolio of clients ensuring their questions were answered and tasks completed.
Now Ashleigh has completed her AAT Level 2, she is going to continue her studies whilst being supported at Clear Vision Financial Management.
Ashleigh Earle, Accounting Apprentice said “I was always interested in working in the accounting profession and the opportunity to study as an Apprentice was perfect. I have gained my AAT Level 2 qualification whilst gaining valuable on the job experience at Clear Vision Financial Management.”
Sean Daniel, Managing Director said “Ashleigh is the first Apprentice we have recruited and we have been delighted with how well she has settled into the business. She has gained lots of accounting knowledge through her course and working with us and passed her course with a Merit.”
