Help for Charities

In an effort to save Charities from collapse the Chancellor Rishi Sunak finally announced a package of £750m of extra funding for frontline charities.

With some of the best known charities facing financial hardship due to charity shops being closed and fund-raising events being cancelled they have no means of income at the moment, the London Marathon alone has cost the sector £66m.

Those charities that are directly helping with the Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis providing key services would receive part of a pot of £360m from Government departments.

Also, those small and medium-sized charities providing community support such as delivering food and essential medicines will be entitled to another £370m.

Charities are playing a vital role in the national fight against Coronavirus (Covid-19) providing support to those who are most in need.

At a time when charities are needed more than ever, will the Government’s package of support be enough to ensure this sector survives.
