A new grant for businesses affected by a local lockdown is launched
As the Government announces more stricter social distancing rules and targeted local lockdowns being implemented throughout England, a grant has now been announced to help businesses through this tough time.
From the 9th September any business in England which is required to close due to a local lockdown will be able to claim a grant of up to £1,500 per property every three weeks the lockdown is imposed. In order to be eligible, the business must have been required to shut down due to Coronavirus restrictions, larger businesses will receive £1,500 whilst smaller businesses will receive £1,000. Any business which is closed at a national level such as a nightclub will not be allowed to claim the grant.
Small businesses are defined as those that occupy a premise with a rateable value of less than £51,000, or occupy a property, or part of a property, subject to an annual rent or mortgage payment of less than £51,000 pa. Any business which is over the £51,000 threshold will be defined as a larger business and receive the bigger grant.
Sean Daniel, Managing Director said “Local lockdowns like the ones we have already seen in Bolton and Greater Manchester will have an impact on those local businesses who are trying to re-start their businesses. The Government lockdown grant will provide much needed support to these businesses”.
