Team Solent Kestrels win basketball final
Published by Sandra Smith on
Southampton based Team Solent Kestrels have had a very successful 2020/21 season (despite Covid) and secured victory at the NBL final.
The club was set up as a small family run team in 1998 with just a boys/men’s basketball team and has grown significantly with an official partnership with Solent University announced in 2015. Their success has continued as they have become one of the largest basketball clubs in the UK. They now offer everything from grass roots and participation basketball, as well as competitive opportunities for boys and girls in the National League.
In April 2021, Team Solent Kestrels men’s team won the NBL Division 1 title for the 3rd consecutive year and following this success they travelled to Manchester on Saturday 15th May 2021 to take on Hemel Storm in the NBL Playoff Finals. Due to covid, this Playoff Final was cancelled last season so TSK were pleased to retain their trophy after beating Worthing Thunder in the final back in 2019.
Romsey and Poole based accountancy firm Clear Vision Financial Management have provided support to the club since 2015. Sean Daniel, Managing Director at Clear Vision Financial Management has had a passion for basketball for many years, having played himself in the past. He became involved in Team Solent Kestrels and was keen to provide support to this local club by sponsoring them.
Sean Daniel, Managing Director of Clear Vision Financial Management said “As a business, we like to provide support to local community groups. Team Solent Kestrels have gone from strength to strength and we are proud to continue to support them.”
Matt Bishop, Chairman of Team Solent Kestrels said “It really has been a year like no other with the impact of Covid affecting us all. Due to its “Elite” profile our Men’s & Ladies D1 programmes have been able to continue throughout lockdown and with the support of Basketball England and the co-operation of all teams, we managed to complete a near full season. It has been another incredible year for our men’s programme and further proof that hard work, commitment and dedication really does pay off. Once again, I cannot thank our sponsors Clear Vision Financial Management enough for their continued support and have to mention the extraordinary lengths Sean and Zoe Daniel go to in order to support the club. We are very pleased to return from Manchester with another Trophy to go with the D1 League Trophy and L Lynch Cup. On behalf of everyone at the #KestrelsFamily, Thank you to all at Clear Vision Financial Management.”
